THE HARD TRUTH
Approximately 1 in 10 Ontario Students report that they have seriously considered suicide in the past year.
More than 1000 people in Ontario die by suicide each year.
For each death by suicide, there are as many as 100 suicide attempts.
Suicide is one of the leading causes of premature death in Canada. Canadians are about seven times more likely to die from suicide than to be the victim of a homicide
Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among youth. 83% of Canadians do not know that suicide is one of the leading causes of death among youth. (Your Life Counts, national Poll: Harris Decima, August 2010)
